Freud's Bar presents "Freud's Insights into Group Psychology"
Wednesday, October 11
EAST BAY BOOKSELLERS DIESEL is pleased to host another installment of Freud's Bar. The theme of their upcoming segments this Fall and Winter is Tickling the Unconscious. The topic of this meeting will be "What were they thinking?!" -- Freud's Insights into Group Psychology, on Wednesday, October 11th at 6:30pm. It will be presented by Charles P. Fisher, M.D.
Are you interested in the world of psychology but afraid you may not understand all of the terms and jargon? Join us for monthly talks given by local Bay Area psychoanalysts. You don't need to be a psychologist to check out Freud's Bar. Just bring your interest and a friend!
James Surowiecki reminds us of The Wisdom of Crowds. In contrast, Shankar Vedantam tells us that if we are in a group of people, we are more likely to believe fake news rather than remain open but skeptical. Psychoanalyst Vamik Volkan shows us how a society can be torn apart by a chosen trauma from centuries past. All of these phenomena are analyzed and examined in Freud's Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego. In this Freud's Bar evening, we'll be open but skeptical as we check out Freud's hypotheses.
